Kertios defined the global outsourcing program for the finance function of a very large international service provider.

The company suffered from fragmented support functions and offered improvement opportunities in terms of cost and quality through the transformation of organizations and information systems.

Following an initial wave of consolidation carried out internally that encountered execution problems and did not realized all the expected gains, the group’s finance management mandated us to accelerate the transition and secure potential gains.

We defined a global outsourcing program for finance functions (with the integration of HR, IT, and purchasing activities) with a partner to be identified, taking Europe as the pilot region (22 countries).

Lessons learned

  • Despite the thoroughness of 6 months of work, the factual relevance of the recommendations and the strong sponsorship from the Europe Region, the client eventually decided not to launch the request for proposal.

  • Competition with the internal consolidation of the Asia region on an Indian Center killed the European "competing" project (when politics gets involved...).

  • The Group CFO was let go 2 years later.
